Hey! I'm Tange and I'm 18 years old.  I’ve been in the Judge Alice Lytle Academy of Dreams Program for over 4 years.  And with the support and nourishment I received from the program, I have accomplished a lot.

I’ve graduated high school in June 2004.  I now working as a part time medical assistant and attending Sacramento City College part time.

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to take a trip to Texas last summer with some of my fellow Academy Of Dreamers.  The reason I wanted to go was to be apart of the experience of the caravan and next year I want to go all the way to Cuba and see what the medical school is like there. My plans for the future are to become a midwife or a Registered Nurse.

I believe in myself.

I feel I can do anything.

Risk Reduction Program

Academy of Dreams

(Risk Reduction & Youth Leadership Program)

The Academy of Dreams is a risk reduction youth leadership program which helps young women create dreams for the future and develop a plan to make their dreams come true. Our target population is adolescent girls between 14-21 in high school and/or up to second year of college. We support them in choosing education and positive community involvement over early pregnancy and risky behaviors.  Activities include expanding their vision of the world by site visits, seminars, and completion of a community service project.

Other activities include weekly meetings; counseling; monthly movie night/slumber parties, dance classes, and educational trips. After completion of the first 3 months, the teens graduate to the Leadership Program.
